Government Relations Council (GRC)

UMAPP is actively involved in monitoring and moving forward issues that are important to our industry. To this end, our Government Relations Council not only advocates on behalf of our members, but goes out and visits our elected officials where they work. Whether that is in St. Paul or Washington DC, we are there and we are vocal!

Representatives from UMAPP attend an industry-sponsored Legislative, Education & Action Day (L.E.A.D.) in Washington DC. every spring.   After exhaustive work by the committee, UMAPP representatives secure face-to-face meetings with officials and their representatives. Using a promotional product, a memorable message was delivered.

UMAPP's Government Relations Council is always at work for you, our members, on promoting the industry as a whole and securing important legislation.

2018 L.E.A.D. Conference

UMAPP invites several individuals from the Association to represent us at the L.E.A.D. confererence, and some of our members choose to go to the conference on their own, and represent our region.

The PPAI L.E.A.D. is a gathering of PPAI leadership, members and... industry professionals from around the country who come together in Washington, D.C. (in-person and virtually) to educate Congress on industry-critical issues as well as the power, impact and job-generating value of promotional products.

During PPAI L.E.A.D., nearly 78 advocates from 30 states will conduct more than 250 meetings with senators, congressional representatives and their legislative staffs on Capitol Hill; thousands of promotional products professionals from around the U.S. advocate on a host of issues by writing letters, emails and social media posts focusing on the importance of pending legislation and issues relevant to the promotional products

Thanks to Scott Hareid (Hareid Marketing) and Ruth Ann Pederson (Yours Truly Marketing) for representing UMAPP at the PPAI L.E.A.D conference in May 2018.

Scott and Ruth Ann made Representative Peterson's newsletter!

This week, my staff aide Richard Lee met with Scott Hareid of Hareid Marketing and Ruth Ann Pederson of Yours Truly Marketing Incentives to discuss the state of promotional products and marketing. With a top to bottom supply chain, many American jobs are created through the production of promotional materials, be it in the production, distribution, or printing industries. I appreciate the work these individuals do to bring jobs to greater Minnesota and I will continue working towards a robust economy that enables them to succeed in their respective sectors.
